Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices Related to Oral Health in Participants of the Institutional Program for the Inclusion of People with Cognitive Disabilities in Higher Education at the University of Costa Rica

People with cognitive disabilities face multiple challenges concerning oral health and frequently show tissue decay because of the barriers society imposes upon them, due to financial issues, professional family lack knowledge, limitations regarding access services, empowering-driven actions, among others. Positive attitudes practices health, developed during course a lifetime, help in preserving good health. The aim current study is describe people participating Institutional Program for Inclusion Cognitive Disabilities Higher Education at University Costa Rica (PROIN, Spanish), 2021. A descriptive mixed focus was performed; representative sample comprised 86 students enrolled PROIN used quantitative approach, while qualitative approach criteria along an opinion sample, limiting size information overload. survey, its corresponding questionnaire semi-structured interview, were as data gathering techniques. It evidenced that certain issues need be readdressed, such bleeding gums, importance dental pieces, well, practice flossing, which many expressed difficulties doing. Good found, dentist visits; however, this population must overthrown. This article showed training professionals well developing promotion programs aimed disabilities.
